A box measures 10 cm long, 8 cm wide, and 6 cm high. It is completely filled with small cubes, each measuring 2 cm on each side. How many small cubes fit in the box?
Show Worked Solution
Worked Solution
Method 1: Using volumes.
Volume of box = 10 × 8 × 6 = 480 cm³
Volume of each small cube = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 cm³
Number of cubes = 480 ÷ 8 = 60
Method 2: Using dimensions.
Cubes along length: 10 ÷ 2 = 5
Cubes along width: 8 ÷ 2 = 4
Cubes along height: 6 ÷ 2 = 3
Total: 5 × 4 × 3 = 60
Correct answer: 60
